Mary "LaShonda" Webber (Lathon) was born and raised in Coushatta, Louisiana, and is the second born of six siblings to Nancy & Jessie Webber, Sr. Mary attended Coushatta High, and was awarded the Winnie Rainey Pylant Scholarship to attend LSU-Baton Rouge. She transferred to LSU-S and graduated with her undergraduate degree in Liberal Arts with a Social Science concentration. Mary furthered her education, earning a Masters in Business Administration (with a Human Resources concentration) from Colorado Technical University. She pursued her doctorate degree from Capella University in Organizational Development, and is currently a student at the Shepard Broad School of Law, for a 2nd Masters in Employment Law.
While residing in the Shreveport/Bossier Area, Mary has worked as an Adjunct Professor at
both BPCC and LSU-Shreveport. Additionally, she has worked for numerous businesses in the area. To name a few, she has worked for LSU Health Sciences Center (now known as Ochsner LSU Health), Christus Schumpert Health System, La DOTD, Sabre Industries, Centerpoint Energy, AEP Swepco, Module X Solutions, and is currently employed as Director of HR at Omni Specialty Packaging.
Mary moved to the state of Michigan in 2014 for a job opportunity as Employee Relations Director and Interim Vice President of Human Resources, leading 3400+ employees. While in Michigan, Mary launched her HR consulting business, L & R Human Resource Consulting, LLC and landed her first major contract with Mott Community College as one of four Leadership Coaches chosen to mentor/coach select leadership personnel.
With 25 years in the field of business and HR, Mary is recognized as an expert in the field of Human Resources, earning two certificates and a SHRM certification further establishing her knowledge and skills in the field of Human Resources.
Mary is also a published author of “Miracles Still Happen…Trust Me”, found in Barnes & Noble stores, Wal-Mart, Amazon and Audible.com. If you ask Mary what she likes most, she will share that she loves spending time with family and empowering individuals to never give up. Mary’s hobbies include community service activities, playing her alto saxophone and reading when she has time. If there is a motto that would summarize Mary, it would be: “A Winner Never Quits and a Quitter Never Wins”.
